I’ve been trying to find the following areas of interest in the Busy Coder’s Guide to Android Development but haven’t been able to:
- Integrating Firebase in an app
- Implementing a Navigation Drawer
- Integrating Google sign-in
- App backup to Google drive (or let’s say, Dropbox)
If there is any section where these topics have been discussed, pl mention in your reply.

None of those are covered in the book.
I cover very little of Google proprietary technology, and I expect to cover even less in the future.
I used to have a chapter on implementing a nav drawer, but it got very out of date, and so I pulled it. It is fairly likely to make a comeback next year, as Android Jetpack is a very nav-drawer-friendly approach.
I have a chapter on backups, but it is not tied to Google Drive or Dropbox.

Is there anything bad about it? Ain’t Android itself Google’s proprietary?
It should have been there for like forever. I think it is as popular as a FAB. Although the section on FAB needs a polish, it is still good to have it as is.
I will go through that chapter first and then raise further questions or make further suggestions.

Android is open source.
