Hi Mark
Mark M. |
hello, Kumar!
Mark M. |
we only have ~10 minutes left in the chat -- how can I help you today?
Kumar V. |
Mark, I have started working on android tv projects. Wanted to check if you have any resources that might help me. As I see the community is small and there is less of blogs and articles around this.
Mark M. |
personally, I have not worked much with Android TV in years
Kumar V. |
Oh.
Mark M. |
as you note, writing apps for TVs is a fairly niche topic
Mark M. |
if your concerns are more in terms of UI, you might also look at other TV platforms, such as Amazon's Fire TV, and how developers are developing for it
Mark M. |
if your concerns are fairly specific to Android TV, though, I do not have links to any specific resources for that -- sorry!

Agree.
They have this leanback library, which is pretty good to get started. But the problem starts when you want to customise, it is less flexible and our product/ux team are over customising it.
Mark M. |
but... that's the job of a product/UX team: over-customize everything! :-)
Kumar V. |
Ya.

Mine is specific to Android tv
Kumar V. |
Thanks, that was the only question I had.
Mark M. |
sorry I could not be of more help to you!
Kumar V. |
Just one last thing, have you come across good open source projects in Android tv. There is one from google apart from that anything else
Mark M. |
I had some trivial stuff back in *The Busy Coder's Guide to Android Development*, but that is now rather old
Mark M. |
otherwise, I have not paid a lot of attention to Android TV, so I do not have any handy open source recommendations, at least in terms of simple stuff
Mark M. |
popular open source media players, like VLC, might have Android TV-specific interfaces
Mark M. |
but, those projects tend to be large
Kumar V. |
The Busy Coder's Guide to Android Development*. --> I will check this.
