it should do that automatically

once installed, any new APKs should be seen by Android as an upgrade

which retains everything on internal storage

and so the existing appinars should still be there

if you uninstall the old app, then install the new one, that will cause you to lose the existing downloads, as they will be deleted when you uninstall the old app

So I do it wrong way :) I always uninstall old apk and install new one
