Mark M. |
hello tinoper!
Mark M. |
how can I help you today?
tinoper |
helo Mark
tinoper |
Hello*
tinoper |
Congratulations for commonsware
Mark M. |
um, thanks!
Mark M. |
but, congratulations for what?
tinoper |
I'm a new suscriber and newbie with android developping too
tinoper |
For this kind of suscription that involves book+stakoverflow+chat, etc
Mark M. |
hopefully, you will find it useful
Aug 7 | 4:05 PM |
tinoper |
sure
Mark M. |
the office hours chats are for your Android development questions
Mark M. |
usually, there's a couple of people in the chat, though today looks like it may be a slow day
Mark M. |
so, do you have any questions?
tinoper |
Maybe my question will be knid of rookie but anyways. For example,I was added ShareActionProvider to my actionbar and it works very fine
tinoper |
but not completely for Facebook
tinoper |
I realized that only including facebook sdk to my app I can send text to share, isn't?
Mark M. |
I am not a Facebook user, so I have not tried using ShareActionProvider, or ACTION_SEND directly, with it
Susheel | has entered the room |
Mark M. |
based on some Stack Overflow questions, it does seem like Facebook and ACTION_SEND have... issues :-)
Mark M. |
(BTW, hello, Susheel -- I will be with you in a moment!)
Mark M. |
tinoper: I also have not tried using the Facebook SDK
Aug 7 | 4:10 PM |
Mark M. |
so I do not know what the best way is to "share" stuff with the Facebook app
tinoper |
Interesting. I can share a URL to facebook with ShareActionProvider but not text.It seems like policy facebook issue.
tinoper |
Ok,I understand
Mark M. |
that's interesting -- I would have guessed the reverse
Susheel |
Hey Mark.
Mark M. |
but, sorry, I cannot really help you with that question
Mark M. |
let me take a question from Susheel, and I will be back with you in a bit
Mark M. |
Susheel: your turn! do you have a question?
tinoper |
Of course
tinoper |
hi Susheel
Mark M. |
Susheel: if you come up with a question, let me know
Mark M. |
tinoper: while we wait for Susheel, do you have another question?
Aug 7 | 4:15 PM |
Mark M. |
OK, if either of you come up with a question, chime in
tinoper |
As I say before ,I'm rookie level and I'm building my own tools in order to develop comercial android app.
tinoper |
What libraries do you recommend to take a look?
Mark M. |
um, well, there are hundreds of libraries available for Android
tinoper |
I mean ,I saw Volley library,etc
Mark M. |
the biggest collection of libraries that I know of is the Android Arsenal: http://android-arsenal.com/
Mark M. |
I have only used a handful of these
Mark M. |
the only thing, from a library standpoint, that I generally recommend across the board to all developers is to use an event bus
Mark M. |
greenrobot's EventBus is my personal preference, though Square's Otto or the LocalBroadcastManager from the Android Support package are also popular
tinoper |
for example,I have an app that manager CRUD from a MySQL db in my own web server with REST PHP
Aug 7 | 4:20 PM |
tinoper |
Ok,I'll take a look a greenrobot's EventBus
Mark M. |
I cover it in the book, and the updated tutorials use it
tinoper |
ok,homework to do so.
Aug 7 | 4:25 PM |
Mark M. |
BTW, Susheel, if you have a question, feel free to ask
Aug 7 | 4:30 PM |
