I think that kotlin multiplatform could be the next big thing and that swift ui and jetpack.compose.are.going.to.converge at a certain point, and that the community loves kotlin not dart. I suppose it would depend on what the background work is that you want to do and what the trigger is for when that work should be done

well, IntentService is deprecated, so they definitely should not be recommending that

a foreground Service is fine for work that is user-initiated, such as a music player
